In the St. Johnsbury area over the next month? The Catamount Performing Arts Center will be holding a screening of each of the Harry Potter films in anticipation of the final installment in the series. Best of all? Tickets are free to the general public!

Kate Young on Harry Potter

Champlain College Freshman Kate Young has a post up about her thoughts on the impact of Harry Potter on the world, and her own experiences with the franchise:

It also made me think long and hard about this story, this world, that JK Rowling has created. I never really thought about how this one woman had changed an entire generation. Sure, she didn’t save lives or cure diseases but she did change the lives of millions of people. She taught an entire generation how to read. She created an entire magical world full of people out of nothing. She truly changed the world.

I wonder if she’s heard that Quidditch is a growing sport in Vermont?
