Vermont-based musician Neko Case has a new song out along with Kelly Link on a compilation album titled 2776: A Millennium of American Asskickery. The song, ‘These Aren’t The Droids’, is about “a sci-fi future as envisioned by women, not teenage fanboys.”
The future is designed by teenage boys. Sounds pretty accurate, for better or worse. Give the song a listen over on Paste.

The Champlain Mini Maker Faire is looking for makers. On September 29th at Shelburne Farms, creators and crafters from around Vermont will gather for what has been called “the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth.”
So what is a Maker Faire? Well, it “brings together families and individuals to celebrate the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) mindset and showcase all kinds of incredible projects. At Maker Faire, you’ll find arts and crafts, science and engineering, food and music, fire and water but what makes this event special is that all these interesting projects and smart, creative people belong together. They are actively and openly creating a maker culture.”
And to make it happen, the Champlain Mini Maker Faire seeks makers and their goods. “Fancy yourself a Maker? If you like to tinker, sculpt, experiment, make tools, make toys, make art, make music, make anything – please respond to this Call For Makers!“
Angelica-music.com has an interview with Ben Matchstick, former man of many talents for Langdon Street Cafe, discussing the establishment’s creation, mission and its final days. Ben says:
The financial end was constantly struggling to break even, trying to do a casual environment where people didn’t feel obliged to buy a big meal. They could have a cup of coffee, hang out.
That welcoming atmosphere was one of the things I liked best about Langdon Street. I never really fell into any of the many wheelhouses of music they boasted, but I always knew the cafe was a place I could stop in while passing through Montpelier, rely on as a meeting place or if I wanted to retreat somewhere with a pencil and notebook. And, of course, I played a lot of games there in celebration of Geek Week and other spontaneous game nights.

Geek Musician John Anealio, out of New Jersey (We’re really hoping that he’ll be touring up here in Vermont at some point this year.) has released a new EP of some of his songs. Appropriately, in time for National Library Week, it’s called Books, Bytes & Bots, featuring some of his book related songs. It’s worth checking out (as well as his growing back track collection – his recently released Robot EP is also quite a bit of fun) , for some fun songs about George R.R. Martin, Apple, John Scalzi and Wil Wheaton.
